Plantation Shutters

Inside-Mount Shutters Explained

An inside mount, also called a recess fit, positions the plantation shutter within the window recess rather than on the wall or architrave in front of it.

Overview

As you work through the guide, an inside-mounted shutter can use either an inside L-frame or a Z-frame. It generally creates the most recessed appearance because the shutter sits back within the opening.

For this step, to use an inside mount, you need enough usable recess depth for the frame and louvres. As a general guide, around 70 mm of clear depth is ideal, but window handles, locks, winders, flyscreens and inward-opening sashes must all be considered.
