Fixing Plantation Shutters into Brickwork

Brick and masonry installation uses the same alignment principles as any shutter installation, but the fixings and drilling method need to suit masonry. Use that result for this step.

In this article

Choose the right fixing

Use masonry-rated screws, plugs or anchors suitable for the brick or concrete you are fixing into and the loads involved. Follow the fixing manufacturer’s instructions. Use that result for this step.

Mark before drilling

Position the shutter frame, check it is square and mark fixing points through the frame. Keep holes clear of fragile edges where possible. Use that result for this step.

Drill accurately

Use the correct masonry bit and drill depth. Clear drilling dust before inserting plugs or anchors. Use that result for this step.

Pack and tighten gradually

Masonry openings may be uneven. Use suitable packers behind fixing points so tightening a screw does not pull the frame out of square. Use that result for this step.

Re-check the panels

After the frame is secure, hang the panels and check alignment before fitting finishing caps.
